Sensibio Bioderma Eye Contour: Complete Analysis And Alternative

The Sensibio range is specifically designed for sensitive skin, so at first glance it looks like a good cream for the eye area, which is finer and more sensitive than the rest of the face.

But to be able to corroborate it, we are going to do a complete INCI analysis of this product, which is where you can really see if the product is good or not. Below I will explain a summary of the ingredients that I like and which I don’t; and I propose a better alternative.

And since I see that the care of the eye contour is a topic that interests you, I recommend that you read this other article with a  complete analysis of the best eye contours .

Bioderma Sensibio contour INCI analysis

  • Glycerin : Tested in ClarinsMen’s anti-wrinkle cream .
  • Dimethicone : Tested in Shiseido Men’s Anti-Wrinkle Cream .
  • Polyethylene : Tested in Clinique for Men wrinkle cream .
  • Tridecyl Trimellitate : There is little information on Tridecyl Trimellitate, an ester of tridecyl alcohol and trimellitic acid, although it is considered an emollient, skin conditioning and thickening agent. By combining it with other esters, the viscosity and texture of mineral oil can be matched and used as a substitute.
  • Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride : Tested in ClarinsMen’s anti-wrinkle cream .
  • Isostearyl Alcohol : Fatty alcohol that prevents the emulsion from separating into its liquid and oily components. This ingredient is also used to alter the thickness of liquid products and to increase foaming ability or to stabilize foams.
  • Butylene Glycol Cocoate : It is an ester of butylene glycol and Coconut Acid (coconut acid), whose function is to stabilize the emulsion and increase its viscosity.
  • Fructooligosaccharides : Fructooligosaccharides are oligosaccharides produced enzymatically from sugar beet, and consist mainly of kestose, nystose, and fructose. Its function in cosmetics is to moisturize and condition the skin.
  • Mannitol : It is a sugary alcohol that is found in abundance in nature. In cosmetics and beauty products, it is mainly used as a moisturizer, but can also be found as a binder, masking agent, moisturizing agent, flavoring agent (in lip balms, etc.), and skin conditioner.
  • Xylitol : Tested in Shiseido Men’s Anti-Wrinkle Cream .
  • Caffeine : Analyzed in ClarinsMen’s Anti-Wrinkle Cream .
  • Sodium Hyaluronate : Analyzed in the Nezeni Cosmetics Intensive Antiage Eye Contour .
  • Glycyrrhetinic Acid : One of the components in licorice root extract that is believed to give this plant its ability to help soothe the skin and minimize signs of sensitization. This component also works as an antioxidant and plays an important role in brightening and unifying uneven skin tone.
  • Rhamnose: It is a natural sugar that can be isolated from plants such as buckthorn and poison sumac. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties. Clinical trials by a manufacturer of skincare products showed that it targets the papillary dermis, a fragile layer of cells that lies directly below the dermoepidermal junction. This, say the creators, makes it the first anti-aging cream that identifies collagen-producing cells, which are vital for youthful skin, giving it volume and texture. According to a PubMed study, cell culture tests show that those treated with Rhamnose produce fewer aging by-products (known as advanced glycation end products, or AGEs). This that rhamnose could be an effective anti-aging agent. However, it would be nice to see studies on real people.
  • Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract : The Latin name for a species of seaweed, also known as brown seaweed. Applied topically, it helps soothe and, like all forms of seaweed, has a certain amount of hydrating properties.
  • Acrylates / C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer : Tested in Shiseido Men’s Anti-Wrinkle Cream .
  • Pentylene Glycol : Analyzed in the Nezeni Cosmetics Intensive Antiage Eye Contour .
  • Caprylyl Glycol : Analyzed in the Nezeni Cosmetics Intensive Antiage Eye Contour .
  • 1,2-Hexanediol : It is a mild and highly effective wetting and coupling agent. It is especially useful when adhering silicone products and can be used in lower concentrations than many other coupling agents, thus reducing its likelihood of irritation.
  • Disodium Edta : Analyzed in ClarinsMen’s anti-wrinkle cream .
  • Sodium Hydroxide : Analyzed in Fiori Di Cipria’s anti-wrinkle cream .
  • Ethylcellulose : It is an ethyl cellulose ether. It is used as a binder, film former, fragrance ingredient, and non-aqueous viscosity increasing agent.

Bioderma Sensibio Eye Contour Analysis Summary

Glycerin is the first ingredient on the list, and although it is a good moisturizer, it is very common because it is quite inexpensive.

The second is a silicone, and the third (Polyethylene) curiously is an ingredient that is not recommended for use on sensitive and irritated skin; something that surprises if we take into account that this is precisely a contour specially designed for sensitive skin.

The list is dominated by ingredients that are not going to contribute anything (alcohols, emollients, skin conditioners, etc.). One good thing is that it has no perfume or parabens.

You have to go to the center of the list to be able to see the 3 most important active ingredients in the cream: Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycyrrhetinic Acid and Rhamnose, which if they are ingredients that will give us elasticity, illumination, will calm our skin and minimize inflammation.

Rightly, Bioderma touts its product as a soothing and hydrating care for the sensitive eye area. So, taking into account the whole ingredients, I think it is not a complete eye contour that treats all the signs of aging, but rather a moisturizer that prevents the sensitive skin of the eye from drying out.

Alternative Creams

Surely you want (and need) a more complete eye contour, which minimizes fine lines and wrinkles in the eye area, as well as the dark color of the dark circles; That is why I recommend a product that is giving me very good results, the Nezeni Cosmetics Intensive Antiage Eye Contour. You can see the analysis and my opinion in the article Best eye contours .
