A night treatment supercharged with a cocktail of Retinol, Ferulic Acid and Niacinamide that improves the appearance of wrinkles and firms the appearance of the skin for an instantly smoother and more even complexion.
New York-based dermatologist Dr. Dennis Gross developed this serum with a special dose of time-release retinol to support the natural overnight repair processes of the complexion.
The retinol , a derivative of vitamin A has been shown that promotes cell regeneration, while inhibiting the enzymatic action degenerating existing collagen; along with Ferulic Acid , which enhances age-defying retinoic benefits while protecting against harmful free radicals, and Niacinamide , a cell energizer.
The complex attacks the key signs of cell slowing on three fronts: it attenuates fine lines, fades dark spots and strengthens the skin’s elasticity.
The results are spectacular: in just 28 days of continuous use, you notice a reduction in the depth of the furrows, an improvement in texture and tone, as well as an increase in the “bounce” and firmness of the skin.
It should be used at night, on clean, dry skin. To obtain the best results, it is advisable to do a previous exfoliation.
But before we try it, let’s find out what other ingredients Dr. Dennis Gross’s product includes, as we have also done with these other recommended serums for 40-year-old women, in this article

Helps protect skin from UV-induced oxidative stress and the natural aging process. It also reduces inflammation and prevents collagen breakdown. Together, these properties promote the maintenance and / or improvement of the skin’s elasticity, which can result in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Gallic Acid : Gallic acid is a natural phenolic acid, a powerful antioxidant with many benefits for our skin. Its antioxidant properties work well against the high oxidative stress frequently suffered by skin cells due to the action of free radicals induced by UV radiation. Gallic acid has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity that can inhibit the inflammatory process.
- Silybum Marianum Ethyl Ester: They are the esters of Milk Thistle. Its trade name is Lipolami ER, and it is the ideal natural and multifunctional ingredient for the formulation of cosmetic products. Its dual capacity as a texturing agent and as an active ingredient to protect the skin barrier make it the perfect alternative to silicone for high-quality, natural care. It is a liquid oil with a dry touch that offers a unique touch and feel. The vegetable esters that are generally used in formulations come from the saturated fatty acids of coconut and palm oils: caprylic, lauric, myristic, palmitic and stearic acids; but these fatty acids do not have cosmetic properties. On the contrary, this ingredient retains the same proportion of fatty acids as the milk thistle oil from which it comes. It contains more than 50% linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid of the omega-6 family. This essential fatty acid is naturally present in the composition of the skin barrier, and when applied to the skin, it reinforces the resistance of the skin, protecting it against stressors and products that can cause intense skin dryness.

Its brand name is Vitazyme A Plus. It is an advanced biotechnological system to administer vitamin A as a water-dispersible substance, which favors penetration into the skin and increases its stability. The protein part of the complex eliminates the toxicity derived from fat-soluble vitamins, which tend to accumulate in the adipose tissues of the body.

Summary of Ferulic + Retinol Night Serum Anti-Wrinkle Review by Dr. Dennis Gross
As advertised on the web, the dynamic trio composed of retinol, ferulic acid and niacin has a great presence in the formulation.
Niacin is in third place, while retinol, an all-rounder ingredient, and ferulic acid, a great antioxidant, are only slightly lower.
This means that its proportions are very suitable to produce the effects we want: anti-wrinkle, anti-blemish, firming and retexturizing.
Niacin is a derivative of vitamin B3 that retexturizes the complexion so that it is smoother, and also suppresses melanin so that it does not reach the surface of the skin and protects it from further damage caused by UV rays.
For its part, ferulic acid has an extra function: in addition to fighting free radicals, it also enhances the other antioxidants in this formula.
Beyond this trio, Dr. Dennis Gross’s formula is packed with antioxidants, AHAs, emollients, and moisturizers. Too bad it includes a couple of irritants.
This product is vegan-friendly, paraben-free, and has not been tested on animals to test it, so you can feel good using it.
As with any retinol-based product, it doesn’t necessarily have to be used every day. In fact, it is best to use it every other day to avoid irritation and overexfoliation of the skin.
This product has an extended release version of retinol. For this reason I think it is not very common to experience any sensitivity.
We like its packaging, an airless container made of brown plastic, which helps to preserve the freshness of the product. The serum itself has a creamy appearance, rather than a watery serum. However, this product is absorbed directly into the skin.
Overall, it’s a great product for almost all skin types, which with regular use certainly produces even better results.
Alternative
Retinol is a great anti-aging ingredient just like ferulic acid, but they are definitely not for all skin types. The most sensitive ones may notice extra irritation when using it, so we think an additional recommendation is necessary.
Nezeni Cosmetics serum produces equally good results, thanks to vitamin C, Cobiolift and hyaluronic acid, but totally eliminates irritation.
