Nourkrin is a food supplement that reached the Spanish market relatively recently, but has already been prescribed by several dermatologists in cases of hair loss. Present on the European market for more than 20 years, the product is popular in many countries around the world.
The main difference between Nourkrin and other supplement options available on the market is the presence of a unique substance called Marilex , which according to the manufacturers is the key to the effectiveness of the product.

What is Nourkrin?
Nourkrin is a product line made internationally to aid in the preservation, growth and maintenance of hair.
According to the manufacturer, the great advantage of Nourkrin is the presence of a unique ingredient called Marilex , produced from fresh and saltwater fish (which has been registered by the manufacturer, that is, you will not find any other product in the market with the same component).
Nourkrin belongs to the Pharma Medical brand , an organization of Scandinavian origin with a presence in several countries.
The Nourkrin website defines Marilex as “the fractionated extract of fish- specific proteoglycan lecticans .”What is Marilex?
Simply put, lectican proteoglycans are substances present in the space between cells of animals. Two varieties are found in cartilage: aggrecan (main) and versican ( in smaller quantity ).
Several studies (links in English: 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 and 5 ) indicate that when our hair is growing , there is a large amount of these substances (mainly of the verse type ) at the base of the hair follicle . On the contrary, when the hair is in the phase of loss this concentration decreases to a great extent.
This change also involves other types of proteoglycans (in addition to lecticans, according to Pharma Medical), but it is not known exactly what their role in this process is. It is believed that they can participate in the nutrition of cells, cell multiplication and protection of hair structures, and interact with growth factors that interfere with hair development.
Anyway, we cannot say which of these substances are present in the Nourkrin formula. Pharma Medical is quite vague in describing the Marilex, probably for intellectual property protection concerns, so anything beyond the official definition they offer is just speculation.
How does Nourkrin work?
According to the manufacturer, Nourkrin helps “to support, standardize and maintain the hair growth cycle .” When this cycle is unbalanced, more hair can enter the telogen phase prematurely, causing more hair to fall out than normal (a condition known as telogen effluvium ).
This explanation led us to believe that the product must be suitable for cases of diffuse hair loss, but not specifically for the androgenic alopecia (baldness classic pattern), since in these cases hair loss is hormonal background (and apparently Nourkrin does not act on that front).
But the manufacturer’s data is not explicit in this regard. Nourkrin’s site says that “regardless of the cause or type of hair loss, the hair growth cycle is almost always affected,” and highlights a more recent study of the stretch involving Nourkrin (which was published in 2014 – we have not yet had access to the content of this research), which says that “it is beneficial to use the product as a continuous treatment in all types of hair loss “.
Incidentally, the Nourkrin formula, according to the manufacturer, offers vitamins C, A, B1, B2 and B3, and “carotenoids and bioflavonoids, which provide significant nutritional value and antioxidant properties.”
Does the Nourkrin really work?
The Nourkrin website offers a series of survey data to illustrate the effectiveness of the product, as well as testimonials from users and experts. One of these studies, conducted with 3,000 users, says that 83% of them noticed positive results (62.5% after 2 months of use, 70% after 6 months, and 83% after 12 months).
Other data cited by the manufacturer: A study carried out in 2006 (with 55 people of both sexes, older than 18 years with hair loss for at least one year without determining the cause of the problem ) showed an average increase of 37.5% in hair growth using Nourkrin.
A separate study , carried out in 2012 with 100 women who had androgenic alopecia, was aimed “to determine if improvements in the aesthetic appearance of hair produce any change in the quality of life of women, although it does not necessarily occur in any reversal of hair loss ”. Nourkrin was one of the products used in this study, the results of which translate into improvements in quality of life (taking into account aspects such as anxiety and depression, self-esteem and social activity) after six months of treatment.
The reviews seen on Amazon for the Nourkrin are the most positive. Many people say they have seen good results (such as thicker hair, growing in areas where it was thin, and improved nail quality). Other users do not notice the difference, but we did not find any reports of side effects or complications in the use of the product.
How to use Nourkrin?
The recommended dose is two tablets a day , one in the morning and one at night, always after a meal and accompanied by liquid.
The recommended wearing time is at least 6 months, but the manufacturer says that it is okay to extend it (it does not mention the need to take a break).
By the way, taking a higher dose doesn’t make the product work faster, okay? According to the manufacturer, higher doses have been shown to have absolutely no additional effect . Therefore, unless directed by your doctor, do not take more than two tablets a day.
Do you need a prescription?
No. As it is sold as a dietary supplement , Nourkrin does not require a prescription to purchase it (which does not mean that you can stop going to the dermatologist to evaluate any problems of loss or lack of hair growth).
Does it have contraindications or side effects?
The only contraindication mentioned is for people who have allergies to fish and shellfish (since Marilex is a shellfish extract). The product does not contain gluten.
According to the manufacturers, no side effects related to Nourkrin have been identified in the more than 20 years that it has been used internationally . There are also known interactions, but if you are using any medication (including contraceptives and even other supplements) or have any special health problems or conditions, it is always recommended that you consult your doctor before starting to take Nourkrin.
Does Nourkrin get fat? Does it affect the skin?
Apparently not . Only one user account was found who had a history of acne before and said that the product can stimulate the reappearance of pimples. What is the price of Nourkrin?
This is the point that keeps many people away from Nourkrin – the price is quite high compared to other supplements on the market.
We found the box with 30 pills in amazon for less than € 50 , in pharmacies the prices can be much more from € 100 to € 300 (a variation of more than 300%). The cost varies greatly depending on the pharmacy, so it is worth doing your research before buying.
Several online stores have very competitive prices, but in such cases you also have to consider shipping in the final invoice, but according to what we have investigated it will always be cheaper than a pharmacy.
Is Nourkrin worth trying?

On the other hand, the only study that we can see in its entirety was done with the complete formula of Nourkrin, not isolating Marilex, so it does not seem possible to assign the results that are presented exclusively to the substance, as the manufacturer claims .
Despite these caveats, the curiosity about this supposedly new asset on the market, and the fact that the product actually looks very safe , makes us think it may be worth at least a test run.
The various favorable testimonials that we found, as well as the fact that several dermatologists have adopted the product in the treatment of hair loss cases, also weigh in our opinion.
Of course, all of this only matters if you don’t have any seafood allergies and the price of Nourkrin is not prohibitive for you.
