Summary analysis Garnier Pure Active Sensitive Anti-blemish Soap-free cleanser
Garnier’s cleanser doesn’t get off to a good start, as the first ingredient is Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a somewhat controversial surfactant. It is not as dangerous as SLS (Sodium Lauril Sulfate), but it also has significant concerns.
It uses betaine (an amino acid) as a moisturizer and anti-irritant, but does not have any other significant moisturizers that can provide hydration to the formula.
It has alcohol in a fairly high proportion, which can end up irritating sensitive skin; just like the perfume it includes.
As a significant asset is witch hazel, which is an astringent and anti-inflammatory, something that will come in handy for oily and blemished skin.
Salicylic acid as an exfoliator to treat blemishes and open pores, and white willow extract, which is also a good astringent, anti-inflammatory and calming astringent ingredient.
Zinc is present in the lower part of the list, which is a shame, as it is a very interesting ingredient to reduce excess fat, and as an antimicrobial agent.
In the end, it does have some beneficial ingredients, but they are not in the right proportions to get the most out of them.
Alternative
I think that Nezeni Cosmetics micellar water has taken better advantage of its ingredients, achieving a more complete and beneficial formula for all skin types. And all this without adding alcohol, an ingredient that can dry out any skin, something we don’t want in a cleanser.
The Nezenia option hydrates, while cleansing, exfoliating, soothing irritations and toning. Not including harmful ingredients and very few preservatives.
