The Uriage option is based on the brand’s thermal water, which comforts dehydrated skin, repairs the skin barrier so that no moisture escapes, and also offers protection against free radicals thanks to its SPF20 filter.
It boasts its hydrothermal complex, UVA and UVB filters and the active ingredient of shea butter to perfectly hydrate the dermis. It is hypoallergenic but has perfume (they do not indicate what it is).

- Xylitylglucoside: The main part (together with Anhydroxylitol and Xylitol) of a hydrating complex called Aquaxyl. It comes from two water-binding plant sugars, glucose and xylitol. According to the manufacturer, Aquaxyl not only hydrates, but can harmonize the water flow of the skin. This means that, on the one hand, you can optimize water reserves by increasing the important natural hydration factors (found naturally in the skin and help keep it hydrated), such as hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate, in the skin. On the other hand, it also limits water loss by improving the skin barrier with increased lipids (ceramides and cholesterol) and protein synthesis.
- Anhydroxylitol : Part of the Aquaxyl hydrating complex, explained in the previous ingredient. This conditioning ingredient works as a moisturizer. It is used to help other ingredients absorb into the skin. When used in anti-aging products it helps to attract and seal in moisture in the skin, necessary to create a protective barrier against the damaging effects of the environment.

Summary analysis Uriage rich water cream SPF 20
It’s a pretty long list, and I’m concerned about the second-place ingredient, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate. It is a solar filter that in principle is not harmful, but up to a concentration of 7.5%, and in this case it is too high.
I am happy to see shea butter in the top ranks as it is a great ingredient for hydrating the skin. And a little further down there is also the squalane, a great moisturizer too.
Following the order I see several more hydrating and moisturizing agents, and I reach the hyaluronic acid, almost at the bottom of the list. A shame, as it is another great moisturizing asset.
What I don’t like is the amount of preservatives it contains, since some of them are irritating and toxic, causing contact dermatitis.
Also be careful with urea, which although it is a water fixative, can cause allergic reactions.
Alternative
Nezeni Cosmetics Collagen cream with a high concentration of hydrolyzed collagen, hydrates the skin and also fills in wrinkles.
It also reduces the amount of preservatives, and of course, does not include any compounds that can cause irritation or side effects in the short or long term.
